My Role

As an UX/UI Designer, I played a key role in integrating and optimizing the collaborative tools OnlyOffice (paid version) and Collabora (free version) within the Ubstream product.
My goal was to ensure a seamless, intuitive, and cohesive user experience, consistent with the existing ecosystem, while facilitating real-time collaboration on documents.

Why These Tools?

 

Facilitate Real-Time Collaboration
Users can co-edit documents (text, spreadsheets, presentations) simultaneously. There is real-time tracking of changes with a clear history of contributions.

 

Offer an Alternative to Proprietary Solutions
These tools help clients avoid reliance on Microsoft 365 or Google Docs. They provide an open-source solution (Collabora) for businesses wishing to control their costs and maintain digital sovereignty.

 

Ensure Data Security and Control
The tools are hosted on private servers to meet GDPR requirements. There is fine-grained access control to documents to prevent data leaks.

 

Guarantee Compatibility with Standard Office Formats
These tools support formats such as .docx, .xlsx, and .pptx, ensuring compatibility with other tools. Conversion and editing occur without losing the original formatting.

 

Enhance the Service Offering
By adding office features directly into the platform, it increases its appeal. This reduces the need for users to switch between multiple tools.
